United Methodist Leaders Launch Global Six‑Week Emphasis to Renew the Church’s Mission
Love Boldly • Serve Joyfully • Lead Courageously — April 12 to May 17, 2026p
United Methodist leaders across Africa, Europe, the Philippines, and the United States are issuing an unprecedented global invitation to all 30,000 United Methodist congregations: join together in a God‑led, Holy Spirit‑empowered journey of worship, discipleship, and mission.
Beginning April 12, 2026, congregations will embark on a six‑week experience titled Love Boldly, Serve Joyfully, and Lead Courageously, culminating in a worldwide Miracle Sunday offering on May 17, 2026.
Bishop Eben Nhiwatiwa and Barbara Boigegrain, co‑chairs of the initiative, describe this effort as a moment of profound spiritual calling. “This is far more than a fundraising campaign,” they share. “It is a spiritual movement to renew our vision as United Methodists—to form disciples of Jesus Christ who, empowered by the Holy Spirit, transform communities and the world.”
Across continents and cultures, worship services will center on the same Scriptures, small groups will explore the same themes, and congregations will pray for the same miracle: that God will raise up new generations of clergy leaders prepared to serve in some of the most challenging mission fields of the church.
With fewer than 5% of clergy outside the United States holding a master’s-level theological degree, the need is urgent. The Miracle Sunday offering will help permanently endow scholarships enabling 500 students each year to prepare for ministry in Africa, Europe, and the Philippines.
“This is a holy moment,” the co‑chairs said. “We trust the Spirit to multiply our gifts beyond what we can imagine.”
