Together, we want to build sustainable support by endowing theological education in Africa, Europe, and the Philippines.
Learn about it. Be inspired.
Empower Ministry. Inspire Hope. Support Leaders.
United Methodists around the world have received a call to full-time ministry. They want to be equipped. Outside the USA, there are vast geographical areas and multiple languages, huge distances to a Methodist seminary, limited financial resources, few trained teachers, and small libraries.
Africa University is the only institution with a substantial endowment. But most candidates for a new generation of United Methodist clergy are trained in other institutions in Africa, Europe, and the Philippines. Their theological education will form trusted leaders. They need our support.
Together, we aim to establish sustainable support by investing in theological education in Africa, Europe, and the Philippines.
The UMC in Africa, Europe, and the Philippines
The UMC is growing in most of these regions with multiple countries and even more languages. Clergy and lay are engaged in God’s mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This mission needs persons equipped for ministry. United Methodist clergy lead, teach, inspire, comfort, transform, heal, and serve. Their impact is immeasurable. Their responsibilities demand a dynamic, robust, theological education. Yet access to theological education varies greatly across our connection.
About the Endowment Fund
Our Vision for Theological Education
We seek to strengthen theological education across The United Methodist Church in Africa, Europe, and the Philippines by equipping faithful, Christ-centered, Wesleyan leaders to serve effectively within their unique cultural, social, and economic contexts—while remaining deeply rooted in the doctrine and mission of the United Methodist Church.
Central to this vision is preserving and advancing Wesleyan scholarship through sustainable salary-support for Professors in Methodism, who mentor future church leaders and enrich the intellectual life of theological institutions worldwide.
Sustaining Theological Education for Generations
The endowments build a permanent financial foundation for theological education in Africa, Europe, and the Philippines. By complementing periodic fundraising with long-term investment, we ensure stability for scholarships, resource material, and new avenues of theological education which increase synergies among institutions.
Through the Professor in Methodism Endowment, we support distinguished faculty who anchor ministerial formation in Wesleyan theology. Together, these funds prepare future pastors and lay leaders, deepen connectional bonds across our worldwide church, and proclaim our conviction that we are one body in Christ.
We believe in a church where every region brings vital gifts to the table.
Locally Rooted, Worldwide Connected: We strengthen theological education where it lives, avoiding the export of outside models.
Reciprocal Learning: Built on mutual respect and humility, we value that every region has both much to give and much to learn.
True Collegiality: We operate strictly as colleagues in ministry—fund disbursement to projects is handled by regional Methodist leaders.
