Miracle Sunday Sparks Global Movement of Generosity and Hope
The early results of Miracle Sunday, May 17, 2026, are offering powerful testimony to a growing global movement of generosity, faith, and hope within The United Methodist Church. From the first 51 congregations reporting worldwide, a remarkable $105,916 has already been contributed, an average of $2,077 per church.
Notably, many of these congregations are communities of fewer than 50 worshipers, underscoring the extraordinary spirit of generosity driving this initiative.
“This is more than a number,” said Bishop Patrick Streiff, President of The Endowment. “It represents a shared commitment to raise up a new generation of pastoral leaders across Africa, Europe, and the Philippines.”
Beyond financial contributions, Miracle Sunday is also inspiring powerful testimonies of faith and sacrificial giving. Stories emerging from participating congregations reflect a deep, personal engagement with the mission and a collective belief that God is working through this movement in profound ways.
Momentum Continues to Build
While these initial results are significant, organizers emphasize that this is only the beginning. Offerings continue to be received, and commitments are steadily increasing. To date, total giving and pledged support have already surpassed $1.5 million, signaling widespread enthusiasm and participation.

Many churches are receiving offerings in the weeks leading up to their Annual Conference sessions and presenting them as acts of collective worship.
Congregations and Annual Conferences, navigating full ministry schedules, have planned their Miracle Sunday observances throughout June, the summer months, and even into the fall to ensure broad participation.
Leadership support has also been strong, with bishops collectively contributing nearly $500,000, setting a powerful example for congregations and individuals alike.
